Dr. Romero is the Chief Medical Officer and Co-CEO at Reliance Medical Centers. He is originally from the Dominican Republic, where he attended the Universidad Iberoamericana School of Medicine to obtain his medical doctorate. In 1999 he moved to New York where he began his residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY and later graduated as a board certified Internal Medicine Physician. Subsequently, he moved to Central Florida where he opened his own practice in 2007 that has evolved to what today is known as Reliance Medical Centers.
Dr. Romero’s passion for care was developed early on in his life. He found great joy in helping others and “going the extra mile” and dreamed of becoming a highly skilled physician. He has succeeded in providing better care to patients by focusing on prevention, behavior modification, and increasing patient access to quality care. In addition, he has established a unique care coordination model that reflects an innovative and compassionate approach to caring for seniors and patients with complex diseases.
He aims to bring a “concierge style” of medicine to the neediest population of seniors in an effort to achieve better health outcomes and treatment plans for managing complex chronic conditions. He has been making a difference in the lives of seniors and families in the Central Florida area who have had difficulty accessing the medical care they deserve. Dr. Romero continues to strive to improve every life he touches, both inside and out, as he leads the physicians and staff at Reliance to deliver an elevated and personalized health care experience like no other.

Atiyeh Amer Atiyeh

Dr. Atiyeh obtained his pre-medical degree from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and subsequently attended the University Autónoma De Guadalajara to obtain his medical degree. Dr. Atiyeh is now an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) certified physician in the United States. He has extensive post-graduate training and experience in various fields of healthcare. Dr. Atiyeh has experience working in both private practice and emergency medicine. His private practice experience began in an internal medicine office in Gurabo, Puerto Rico and later transitioned to emergency medicine where he practiced in a variety of emergency rooms throughout northern Puerto Rico.

Dr. Atiyeh’s vast experience includes a brief period of teaching as a professor at the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico. Courses taught included: Introduction to Pharmacy, Microbiology, Dosage, Pharmacotherapy I and II, OTC Medications, Anatomy and Physiology, and Pharmaceutical Legislation and Administration. Shortly after, he moved to the United States and has been practicing medicine as a primary care physician at Reliance since 2018.

Glorimar Gonzalez

Dr. Gonzalez graduated from the University of Autonoma De Guadalajara School of Medicine in 2006 with her medical doctorate and a minor in surgery. After completing her medical internship at Hospital Buen Samaritano in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, she served in many facilities both as a primary care and emergency care doctor, until 2016. Shortly after, she moved to Florida to practice medicine in Lakeland and Winter Haven.

Dr. Gonzalez has experience as a primary care physician, emergency care physician, and has provided various surgical services for multiple medical clinics across Puerto Rico and in Lakeland, Florida. With over ten years of service in the medical field, she is committed to providing excellent care to her patients. She takes time to listen to the individual concerns of her patients and employs preventive healthcare practices to provide the highest level of care possible. On a personal front, she is an avid tennis player, and can be found at different tennis courts around town. Dr. Gonzalez has been with Reliance since 2020.

Sharon Abueg

Speaks English.

Sharon Abueg joins Reliance after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Cebu Doctor’s College of Nursing and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner at Walden University. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nursing and is a Progressive Care Certified Nurse. Sharon also has experience in the Critical Care Unit and has a passion for helping others.

Jennifer Tresso

Jennifer Tresso received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Spring Arbor University and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner at Chamberlain University. She has been awarded a number of honors during her career, including the Award of Excellence Gold Level of Patient Experience from Florida Hospital Tampa (now AdventHealth Tampa) and the 2015 Excellence in Nursing Rising Star Award. Every day Jennifer strives to deliver compassionate care and has a commitment to excellence.

Kelechi Esoga

M.D., M.S.

Dr. Esoga received his Doctor of Medicine from Windsor University School of Medicine and completed his post graduate training at Hospital Hima San Pablo Fajardo located in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, USA. He has lived in a variety of locations, including Maryland and Chicago, and settled in Florida in 2016 with his wife and two children. As a Primary Care Physician, Dr. Esoga is trained in providing compassionate, understanding, and holistic care to his patients. Dr. Esoga has been recognized for a number of honors during his career, including the WellMed Exceptional Patient Care Award in 2017. With over ten years of service in the healthcare field, Dr. Esoga works to make a difference in the lives of his patients every day. Outside of his work, Dr. Esoga is interested in classical music, weightlifting and history.

Kristen Tolley

Kristen Tolley graduated from the University of South Florida with a psychology degree. She later went on to complete her BSN at South University and worked as an emergency room and labor & delivery registered nurse for 6 years. Kristen then completed her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Florida.

She has a special interest in women’s healthcare and chronic disease management. She has been with Reliance for just over a year and a half and currently lives in Lakeland with her husband, their two dogs, and daughter.

Jose Pares

Dr. Pares graduated from Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine in Puerto Rico with his medical doctorate. He later attended the University of Puerto Rico where he completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. His background experience includes working at the Health Department of Puerto Rico in the department of Accreditation and Regulation of Health Care Facilities (hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, ambulatory surgical centers, dialysis facilities, and more).

His medical accomplishments include being an Anatomical and Clinical Pathologist which gives him a broad view of the causes and effects of diseases and expertise in laboratory samples for diagnostics. This blending of skills provides a perfect combination for patient evaluation. He is experienced in acute and chronic conditions, as well as alternative treatment services including but not limited to acupuncture, vitamin C, and neural therapy. Dr. Pares has been with Reliance since June of 2018.

Claudia Esson

Claudia holds a master’s degree in nursing from South University, in Tampa. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has been providing routine to advanced nursing care in hospitals and private practices since 2011. Claudia is dedicated to providing the best patient care possible through listening to her patients and employing motivational interviewing techniques.

She has practiced nursing in a variety of health care settings and has experience treating patients with a variety of illnesses and injuries. She has been with Reliance since 2018.

Tarsha Foreman

Tarsha has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, she is trained in providing quality, empathetic and compassionate care to her patients. Tarsha received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. Petersburg College and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner at South University where she was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Marecia Jefferson-Lias

Marecia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from Florida Southern College and is currently in the process of obtaining her Doctoral of Nurse Practitioner from Florida Southern College. Marecia is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Emergency Nurse Association, and the Polk County Chapter of the National Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. Marecia has extensive experience in the healthcare field and is focused on providing quality and committed care.
